First and foremost, when Hope van Dyne popped into Scott Langs’s head for a chat in Ant-Man, it was clear that she was visiting him to gather intel about Wasp. This was significant because, in comic books, Wasp is identical to Cap’s sidekick – both women are strong scientists with wings who can fly. As you might recall from Captain America: Civil War (which also featured a side story titled “The Accuser”), Scarlet Witch imprisoned Cap and took his powers away, so imagine if Wasp could do the same to Scott! That would be seriously bad news for the Ev extensionist!

 Interestingly enough, there’s a whole ant society that revolves around mind control which could easily be interpreted as an allegory for how society oppresses minorities. In one scene, Janet uses her teleportation abilities to take out a bunch of soldiers – but then she destroys an entire city block as part of her moral compass. It seems like she’s placing herself in danger just so people can see that she refuses to bow down to the government or anyone else – even if it means leveling an area to make a statement!

 There’s more going on here than meets the eye and we could be looking at yet another commentary on the state of our world today. Maybe we should all just start wearing ants costumes everywhere?
